5 Brainspotting sessions over 6 months – concession rate applied – £375
When I met with Susie she was overwhelmed with life and after a short conversation she acknowledged that was exhausted and needed me to give her permission to stop and rest. She went for nap and an hour later she was feeling a little brighter and I asked her if there was anything I could do help. I had told her about my coaching certification over the times we had met previously, and she had shared little bits of information about her past so I was aware that there was a story being suppressed.
I asked her if she would like to talk about anything and she froze. She sucked in her breath and pursed her lips together and said “No, I can’t” and shook her head. The tears welling in her eyes.
“Don’t worry” I said, “it is possible to heal without needing to tell me anything, we can have a Brainspotting session if you would be open to that? we focus on what feelings are showing up for you rather than what happened to you”.
She couldn’t breathe and so wasn’t sleeping and so she was exhausted. I explained to her how her body may be in functional freeze and so she was shallow breathing, keeping her heart rate elevated, and oxygen levels low which was exhausting her.
So that is where we started, by focusing on the breath, using a brainspot to release what was keeping her stuck, and she started coughing, and coughing and coughing for about 15 minutes and I held space for her whilst she released. Coughing is usually something that we all try to suppress especially after COVID, but the body knows how it wants to release stored emotions, we just have to learn to let it do what it needs to do.
And then she took the deepest breath in, and her whole body relaxed, and her eyes became bright, and her skin colour changed, and she said, “I can breathe”.
We have released the feelings of sadness, guilt, hopelessness using brainspotting. We have identified that coughing is her most effective way to release any stuck emotions. Susie is now running a franchise business, learning new skills and I still don’t know many details about her story. I don’t need to. And she continues to experience light bulb moments and shifts in her awareness every day.
